Assisted Living Facilities and Nursing Homes in Decatur, IL: Highlighting Eagle Ridge of Decatur

Choosing an assisted living facility is no small task – for whoever is involved, the shift from regular life at home to a life in a completely new place will be difficult. So, what do the facilities in Decatur, IL have to offer that make this shift seamless?

Let’s take a close look today at Eagle Ridge of Decatur.

Eagle Ridge is a Supportive Living Community that’s close to the Decatur Family YMCA and Decatur Memorial Hospital. Eagle Ridge provides seniors 65 and better with a solution to the growing need for affordable housing and supportive services. So far, there are a total of 113 apartments in the community.

Here’s a look at some of the services Eagle Ridge of Decatur provides:

  • Three meals a day plus snacks
  • Social, educational, and wellness activities (internally and outside in the community)
  • Assistance with personal care
  • Medication management
  • All utilities (except phone, cable, and internet)
  • Housekeeping and weekly laundry
  • Scheduled transportation
  • 24-hour security and emergency response systems
  • Onsite therapy
  • Onsite Country Store (everyday items for purchase)
  • Beauty/barber shop
  • Recreational Room (pool/movies/exercise equipment)
  • Library

While there are other options here in town, Eagle Ridge is different. It was the first Supportive Living Community to come to Macon County 14 years ago.

Eagle Ridge also has some of the original staff from the day they opened the doors, which says a lot for a company in the health care industry.

Another added perk is that all residents are automatically members of the YMCA. The close proximity to Decatur Memorial Hospital also gives residents peace of mind that if anything were to go wrong, the hospital is right around the corner.

Ashley Higar, the Director of Marketing, explains that seniors should trust the staff, because they care for the residents as if they were their own family. She explains, “We are lucky to be able to work in [our residents’] home and serve them.”

Ashley was unable to comment on the cost of the facility, but she explains that Illinois Supportive Living programs are open to residents with various financial resources. There’s a process you can go through to apply for these communities.

If you or a family member are thinking about entering a senior living facility, Ashley gives a final piece of advice: “Come check out Eagle Ridge of Decatur and let us help educate you on the importance of Supportive Living. Supportive Living provides individuals the luxury of living independently and self-sufficiently for as long as possible.”
