Jan wanted lower premiums after breast cancer treatment

Jan had Medicare Supplement insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS). She was treated for breast cancer four years ago, she really wanted to lower her premiums.

Dianne Renner spoke with her and found at the time that Central States Indemnity (CSI) offered the best fit and a lower premium. Dianne found that even though Jan could answer "No" to all the health questions on the application with CSI, one medication she was taking, Tomoxifen, was a potential problem. Many insurance companies consider the drug Tomoxifen as “treatment for cancer”.

Dianne callend the Underwriting Department at CSI, and found out they do not consider Tomoxifen as treatment: only radiation and chemotherapy, which she long done with. After submitting the application, Jan was accepted with CSI, and lowered her premiums significantly.
