Check your existing drug coverage first.

Drug coverage may come from a standalone Part D plan or a Medicare Advantage plan that includes it. Adding a separate drug plan can affect existing coverage. Confirm how a change would work before enrolling.

What you’ll need to compare plans.

Have your ZIP code, prescription names, doses and preferred pharmacies ready. Select the correct coverage year and enter your medicines in Medicare Plan Finder.

Compare estimated yearly spending as well as the monthly premium. Drug coverage, pharmacy costs and restrictions differ by plan.

Enrollment depends on your situation.

You can enroll or make changes only during an enrollment period that applies to you. Medicare Plan Finder and 1-800-MEDICARE can help you understand your options and timing.
