Assisted Living Facilities and Nursing Homes in Decatur, IL: Highlighting Lincolnshire Place of Decatur

Assisted Living Facilities and Nursing Homes in Decatur, IL: Highlighting Lincolnshire Place of Decatur

Do you have a loved one looking for some extended care in the Decatur, Illinois area? We’ve been talking to the local providers, and today, we’re highlighting Lincolnshire Place of Decatur, an Assisted Living Facility for Memory Care.

I spoke to Tina Clem, the Executive Director at Lincolnshire, and she gave me a good idea of what Lincolnshire has to offer.

What is Lincolnshire Place?

Lincolnshire is an Assisted Living Facility for Memory Care located in Decatur, IL. The facility is on Arbor Dr, which is next door to Primrose Retirement Community. It is also fairly close to the Hickory Point Mall.

Tina explains, “We give hands on assistance to a unique population. Memory care is needed for those with Alzheimer’s and all other forms of Dementia.”

Those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia need specific care, and a traditional Assisted Living Facility isn’t usually the most appropriate option. And in many cases, skilled nursing care is not yet needed.

That’s what makes Lincolnshire Place a great fit for those with memory conditions.

Tina goes on to explain, “Day to day, we offer am/pm care, activities/socialization, laundry, maintenance, nursing, medication, meals... just to name a few. We also welcome outside services such as therapy and podiatry.”

What services does Lincolnshire provide?

For those who are unable to live and care for themselves, Lincolnshire steps in to help.

They offer 24-hour nursing care for assistance in all activities of daily living.

Tina explains that Lincolnshire has a homelike atmosphere, and they also take care of all the necessary services as well some supplemental activities and social events.

Tina elaborates, “We have 3 activities a day. There is weekly entertainment, such as Paw Print Ministries, Mini Hoofs, Mr. Dunbar, and other guests who come to sing or play for our residents.”

There’s always socializing in the common areas along with a warm fireplace to cozy up to.

What makes Lincolnshire different?

Tina says that Lincolnshire is a secure building with a 24-hour nursing staff. The residents have an apartment for independence and nursing care for assistance in all activities of daily living.

“We have a Town Center – residents have the feel of going to town. There’s a hobby shop, theater, beauty parlor, and even a 60’s diner.”

There’s also a secured courtyard. The main focus of Lincolnshire’s facility is taking care of the residents, providing activities, and socializing.

Why should seniors trust your facility and staff?

Lincolnshire Place was built with Dementia in mind.

The open concept facilitates wandering. The staff is given 16+ hours of Dementia training before they even go to the floor for resident care.

There is also ongoing training throughout their employment.

How much does Lincolnshire cost?

We are a private pay facility.

A studio costs $4,675 per month and a one-bedroom costs $5,315 per month. There is also a one-time community fee, and spousal fees are extra.

How many residents do you currently have?

We have 40 apartments total.

Of those 40 apartments, we have 10 one-bedrooms and 30 studios. Our maximum capacity for residents is 50.

What advice do you have for seniors thinking about entering a senior living facility?

Without taking a breath, Tina says, “Tour!! Tour as many as you can. Don’t set up the tour, but pop in unannounced. This way, you will see the establishment as it is day-to-day. If you set up a tour, their presentation may not be an actual representation of the establishment.”
